Ingenico has not yet released any software that allows EMV chip debit cards to be used as debit transactions, so all your customers' EMV chip debit cards will function as credit cards (even if Debit is selected), and you are therefore a merchant. a higher credit card transaction fee is charged than a lower debit card transaction fee. You would think that where DEBIT and not CREDIT was originally selected, the option for the customer would be to enter their PIN, but no, Ingenico designed these ADDITIONAL two options which confuses the customer and they usually choose option number 1. IT SEEMS THAT OPTION #1 IS USING A DEBIT CARD AS A CREDIT CARD AND SO THERE IS THE SAME PROBLEM, YOU RECEIVE LARGE FEES AND COMMISSIONS and it is not processed like a debit card. Customer must select Option #2 US DEBIT to be processed as a direct debit. If I didn't know better, the VISA/MASTERCARD industry paid Ingenico back for how they set up the machine to get people to use their debit cards as credit cards. Otherwise, why would the whole machine be primed to use their debit cards? as credit cards. We also have a Verifone vx520 and it doesn't play these user/customer games. It's easy, and the EMV chip software has been accepting debit card transactions since the beginning. Save a lot of $$$$$$$ and don't buy Ingenico.
