I purchased this product based on its advertised width of 8 inches to carry multiple inserts and folders. When empty, the bag is only 4 inches wide and the main compartment is only 3 inches wide. Only when all the outer pockets were filled did its width approach 8 inches. There are also a couple of compartment straps that might work for other purposes, but I find them cumbersome when the bag is full as they prevent access to the security compartment because the latches are hidden within the contents. a bag that just doesn't have the capacity the description suggests.
