Using this monitor with a MacBook Pro with Retina display

I don't see many monitor reviews from Mac users, so here's one for you. I received this monitor this morning and hooked it up to my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15" Late 2013) with NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2GB graphics card with El Capitan. This is my first time using my monitor with a mini-Displayport to Connected to HDMI cable I bought from Monoprice about a year ago.I travel a lot and do a lot of corporate video work. This is the same cable I use to connect my Mac to a lot of video mixers with an HDMI input so it's a solid one Cables in a variety of configurations. On this monitor it didn't work properly at 1080p (red dots everywhere) and at 1080i it didn't sync properly and bounced up and down (jitter is probably more accurate.) I have a standard HDMI cable pulled it out of my gear bag and plugged it in instead and it works great on 1080p it still has the same problem on 1080i fast upshifting and downshifting at 1080p it's jedoc h perfect. It's unlikely that some people have complained about this monitor being too bright, it's actually dimmer (on the Natural setting) than my rMBP screen at 100% and only marginally brighter than my 21.5-inch -iMac 2009. is also nearby, I haven't been able to test it with VGA or DVI yet because I don't have a suitable Apple adapter at home. Response time is best set to standard for normal use. Super-fast mouse pointer delays. I disabled dynamic contrast. Contrast is set to 60 and brightness to 100. In my home office, natural light is filtered through the blinds and the windows are behind my screens, not me, so there's not really any glare. I don't see a reflection on the screen of the lamp behind me like I do on my iMac screen. The color matching can be seen fairly close to the screen on my MacBook Pro. When I set my background to solid white or solid black, both are fairly consistent and I don't see any bleed or obvious color issues.

Pros
  • 24 inches
Cons
  • Not everything is as good as written
