This was a Christmas present for our cat. He didn't actually have a scratching post because they're ugly; just a dice with a scraper and 2 game balls. We change our sofa because not only is the time right, but the cat has scratched one of the corners. So this purchase should serve a dual purpose. I saw him using a pad (yay) made of jute or sisal. Hopefully this won't scratch it on the new sofas. It's also a high stand or much higher than he's used to, so he spends a lot of time on it. Of course, I added other practical things that he liked, so that helped. I'm just really glad he's using it. The light gray color goes well with our decor. That brown didn't look pretty, but that light gray did! And not ugly like scratching posts. The best thing is that it folds up. space saving.
