Review on 🏎️ Hayden Automotive 514: The Ultimate High Performance Transmission Cooler by Tone Hatton

My mechanic recommended this tube and fin style transmission cooler, he said it cooled better than a plate cooler. I installed it myself on a 2007 FJ Cruiser in about an hour. I chose this one because the total weight my FJ can tow is 5,000 pounds and this cooler is designed for that. Looks very solid, I installed it in front of the air conditioning condenser. I installed it in line after the oil went through the stock cooler in the radiator and then through the Hayden cooler to keep the return oil as cold as possible. Before the gearbox, my temps were 170-180 for normal driving and 200-207 for towing. I've heard that the Toyota transmission runs hotter, but I don't want to risk it. Now with the cooler my temps are 150 for normal driving and 170-180 for towing. I recently drove over 1200 miles round trip in outside temps as low as 90. I have towed a 19 foot Aerolite weighing about 4500 pounds maybe about 5000 with my gear, provisions, water etc. The only time my towing temp exceeded 200.. was while transiting Donner Pass. I imagine if I didn't have a radiator my A/T temp warning light would have come on. BTW, my FJ has 135,000 miles on it! I'm sure he appreciated Hayden's extra cooling. Great cooler, definitely recommend!
