All steel with metal drywall anchors included.

I was surprised that these metal floating shelves came with the RIGHT heavy duty steel drywall anchors. I have a box of 50 lb drywall anchors handy, but the ones that came with the shelves seem capable of handling more weight. It is always good. The books are great on the shelves. The bookshelf bends slightly in the middle (1/16 inch?) since the books weigh 30 pounds. I moved the heavier books toward the ends and the lighter books toward the middle, which helped reduce sag. You can do better if you distribute the books evenly by weight on both shelves.
