When you install a motorized stabilizer (or even a non-motorized one) you want it perfectly balanced before you even use it, and with a motorized unit you want it balanced in front of you turn it on That way the motors don't have to work as hard, you don't have to work as hard, and your batteries last a lot longer. I bought this to use with the Hohem iSteadyMobile+ 3-axis gimbal for smartphones. For my setup, it's exactly what the doctor ordered. I was able to balance the phone fairly well without the weight, but it still rocked forward and I had to put a bit more weight on the back of the phone mount to balance it before turning it on. This weight is evidenced by its simplicity and versatility. You can use it to fine-tune almost any suspension system. Even with heavier cameras, a little variable weight can help set them up just enough to keep them stable. The clamp itself is lightweight and that may be enough for some purposes, but then you have this little bar with 4 gripping cylinders that screw individually into each other and into the clamp. The clamp also has 4 holes so you can screw the clamp on however you like and add weight in any direction you need to level your rig. This is a great solution for my compact system and has many different uses for all types of stabilizers.
