Review on Westinghouse Lighting Industrial 56-Inch Indoor Ceiling Fan with Brushed Nickel Steel Blades - Westinghouse 7861400 by Courtney Stone

Okay, really, this is bluntly called an industrial fan. Other reviews seem to gloss over this fact, speaking of installing this fan in bedrooms, living areas, etc. At this point I would like to say that this fan is not intended for typical home use. The fan I received is much louder than a regular ceiling fan. The fan motor hums, indeed pulsates, at a clearly audible 60 Hz, much louder than a normal ceiling fan in the house. You won't want this in your bedroom or living room. The unit has a label advising that for safety reasons the fan must ONLY be installed with a minimum ceiling height of three feet. THIS IS NOT MENTIONED ANYWHERE IN AMAZON'S DESCRIPTION. For those of us with a ceiling lower than a cathedral, this won't work. At high speed, imagine the blades of a helicopter taking off, 54 inch Vegematic, ready to rip your loved ones to pieces with their metal blades. The Wall Switch/Speed Controller is a monstrous, bulky, wall-mounted rheostat straight out of the 1960's Soviet design school. Previous reviews mentioned that it was replaced by Westinghouse's newer solid-state controls. The installation manual clearly warns against using the newer solid state control system with this unit. Is anyone a fire hazard? What does the description of Revain reflect? How are you, Westinghouse? Another problem I see is wobble. The unit I received does not balance properly, it wobbles even though I tried adjusting the fan blades as per the troubleshooting section of the manual. It keeps vibrating on the ceiling even though installed correctly. This fan can be suitable for the ceiling of your garage, shed or factory. You will not be satisfied with it in your home.
