Check before you try. I sent the first one back as it didn't seem to work - the stickers on the box said "Try it, move your mouth to hear the voice" etc. When the second one also "didn't work" , I took a closer look and found that you need to activate the battery first. knowing it would prevent a return from the unsuspecting grandparents. Parts of it look like they'll wear out quickly - I actually thought it was the first to be used, the material was so thin for the sport - but it's cute and will probably last as long as most children's attentions .
