Review on Chuanganzhuo Camera Universal Normal Reverse by Nicholas Erickson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good assembly, good angle

Great camera! It feels solid, heavy and of good quality (has a metal body). I installed it on the Mazda CX-5 where the stock camera is (I have a Sport 6 speed so the stock rear camera was not installed) and the angle is good. Also, someone suggested an optional video extender for the CX-5. I didn't need an extension and had the extra length. I routed the video/reverse signal cable up through the passenger side grommet in the sunroof, then along the passenger side headliner, down the A pillar and then behind the glove box to the main unit. I hate the instructions but I doubt many people look at the instructions because the wiring is so simple: 1. Connect the black/red twin wire to the power supply (I turned off the tail light). The red wire sticking out from the video stream is used to send the signal back to the main unit. Connect it to the plus on the rear light. If I had to do it again I would power the camera from somewhere else so I could see behind the car even if it wasn't reversing. We sometimes tow a small trailer and it would be nice to be able to see it while driving.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Reliability
