Last year I decided to switch to LED for my landscape lighting. Now it's easier than ever to replace the lightbulb directly instead of buying all new lights. I read a number of reviews on what to look for to have a comparable halogen look: warm white and around 2700K. I jumped the internet, found what I wanted with that description (other bulbs) at the lowest price and bought her. They were definitely whiter than what I was using. One of them can be seen up close in one of the photos above the tree (a tree in the background has a new Alide lamp for comparison). After living with other LEDs for a year, I began to wonder if I needed to spend the $12 per bulb I saw on the professional landscape site. I just couldn't bring myself to spend that many dollars so I started looking again and came across this Alide MR16. I decided to try them based on the limited reviews but they were all positive! Also the fact that I got 6 bulbs for the price of 2 from another site was definitely a win - that is if they delivered the look I wanted. When they arrived I decided to replace all 6 bulbs that same night. Most had different LEDs, but a few still had the old halogens. Now I know what they mean when they say LEDs "get cold" because you can almost burn your fingers trying to replace a halogen bulb that only ran a short time. As soon as I put in the first Alide bulb I knew this was the right color for me. I used to have 20w halogen bulbs and they are very similar to them. They seem a little brighter (probably closer to 30 watt halogen) but I like it even more. After testing them last week I placed another order to replace 6 more lamps. The only thing I can't say is how long they last. But at the current price, I'm not too concerned at the moment. (The photos don't really capture the headlights properly - if you're after that halogen look, they'll definitely give you that.)
