I've used it to add memory to computers, digital cameras, GPS devices and other similar applications. They are also useful for archiving files and transferring files between devices. But everyone who buys it already knows. To date I have never had any speed or compatibility issues with this or any other SanDisk device. However, my needs are probably not demanding. For occasional use and small to medium data transfers, I'm more interested in reliability and compatibility than absolute transfer rates. Whether you need to have the highest read/write speeds, I can't say. Maybe they are, but I don't pretend to know. In my experience these were good and reliable units. Some practical advice I can give is this: I tend to buy cards with more memory than I think I'll need. I have three reasons. First, storage capacity per volume tends to be cheaper at the higher end of the commercially available price range, has large capacity, but is well below the highest capacity available. Secondly, I have not yet seen whether the memory requirement ever tended to decrease. Third, even if (is that "when"?) the device becomes obsolete, the memory card can likely be salvaged and used in a newer, more modern application. And this newer, more modern app might have higher memory usage than the old one.
