ViewSonic VX2452MH Display – my review and answers to some controversial questions

I've had it for about a month and it's fantastic! My six-year-old 25-inch HANNspree display was suffering from motherboard-related issues that would cost about the same price to repair, so buying a new one instead wasn't a problem for me. As a PC repair technician, I have four widescreen displays here in my study and this is the one I use the most. The "lowering" by an inch on this 24" isn't noticeable at all, but the sharpness of it blows away the other three and the defective one it replaced. Away! And as usual, Revane brought it to mine right then door when they said it would be here and in great shape! It was up and running in less than 20 minutes and displayed brilliantly on my Windows 7 system. It originally showed up in Device Manager as "Generic Display", but installing the driver files included on the CD fixed it on the fly. See the included CD for instructions. NOTE: Installing the driver files is NOT required and provides no benefit other than displaying the correct make and model. I have I have read every review and question on several comparable displays before purchasing this one and would like to clarify a few things that I have found based on conflicting responses from other reviewers got confused on this display. This display tilts back and forth - the base doesn't rotate or slide up and down. Some people complained that the base was very weak. I find it just as durable as the plastic base of any other display. The screen is matte, doesn't dazzle, only the black plastic casing around the screen is shiny. About an hour of direct sunlight hits me head-on every morning, and CASE's reflection almost blinds me, but the screen itself remains perfectly clear with no distortion or glare. It has connections for basic VGA, DVI and HDMI. Includes DVI-DVI adapter and standard VGA cable (HDMI cable not included). It also has jacks for internal speakers and a headphone jack. I didn't have to configure ANYTHING on this display with the included DVI-DVI cable. I haven't tried the HDMI connection, but several reviewers have complained that this display is too bright when first connected. This can happen with HDMI, but I haven't experienced it with the DVI cable that came with the box. The clarity of the built-in speakers is acceptable for normal use, but it certainly has nothing to do with high quality. This isn't a problem for me as I have a surround sound system, but the headphone jack is useful at times. The on-screen menu and corresponding front panel buttons aren't as confusing as some people think. being. but I read the manual on the CD before I play with it. I would advise people who have had trouble to do the same, these are relatively easy things. Aside from the power button, there are only four other buttons with icons above them, and they're all pretty self-explanatory. If anything else comes to mind or my level of satisfaction changes I'll definitely update this review but for now I'm more than happy with this display and wouldn't just recommend it to anyone. I have. My mother in law. and I don't usually do that :)
