I just bought one of these direct from the manufacturer and it won't stop working! I can arm it, put it on a hard granite counter, and it will still start. There's not even the six second breather it should have, it just devolves into 120dB of loud screaming. I'm hoping I somehow got a defective one that can be replaced, but damn if this thing explodes in my house my ears will be ringing in twenty minutes! Luckily the alarm function is removable, but then what's the point if I can get a lock without an alarm for half the price. Update: Don't forget to dismantle the lock when you first get it to check that the battery has good contact and that the plate covering the squawk box is secure and has no slack. I went in, cleaned the battery connector and installed the battery better than the factory and now I'm not afraid to put it on my bike overnight for fear of false alarms.
