I am a woman who has been wearing men's shoes for decades because women's shoe manufacturers decided that women shouldn't have wide feet. I wear 4E at both New Balance and Skechers. Admittedly, I have to be careful when choosing the cut that this width fits me, as I also need a lot of space in the toe area. The Propets I ordered had a different labeling system but the fine print reassured me that what I ordered was equivalent to 5E. When I first tried them on, they immediately caused pain in the toe, right at the widest part of my foot. Not a promising start. They felt hard and uncomfortable with little padding anywhere. The vertical distance from the sole of the foot to the tip of the toe also appeared small. I took them off and took out the insole. This made the shoe a little better, but also removed the individual padding. I decided to put them aside for a day and try again the next day. They didn't feel any better and most importantly they seemed so hard and unforgiving that I didn't think they would loosen up over time. I returned them. I'm still looking for a brand whose ultra-wides are wide enough that I can confidently order without having to study the design and specs in detail.
