I've never dealt with freeze dried raw dog food and it's easy to work with as it's shaped like big meatballs. When I first opened the package all 3 dogs swarmed! fragrant to say the least. I can definitely smell beef/liver/kidney. I broke 1 into 3 pieces for them to try and they all ate well. Staying here at the moment are 2 seniors (14 and 15) and a 5 year old grandson so I will crumble their breakfast like a topper and add hot water. An older boy has had a taste for softer foods lately so this would be a good addition. This bag is expensive, but that's when you get what you pay for. All ingredients are recognizable, pronounceable and of high quality. I wouldn't use them as food for my furboys, but I see them as valuable when traveling, camping, or anywhere you want raw but easy-to-cook food. For people already on a raw diet, this would be a bust for mobility. For others, like me, this can be a quality treat and meal. And the dogs love it! +++UPDATE+++ For almost a week I've been adding 1 to their breakfast - I mince/mince it, add hot water and mix it into their regular meals. You've never eaten with such an appetite! Even a picky eater licks every grain.
