I bought this panel as a gift to replace my mother-in-law's old 17 inch CRT. She loves it, but the monitor isn't perfect. Pros: - Big screen, relatively low resolution (1680 x 1050) means it's easier for you to see details without having to scale up - It's an LCD so it's much easier on your eyes than an old CRT and also light enough for it to move when it is - Video looked good - Response time is good enough that we couldn't see any ghosting, but we didn't really bother in games - No dead pixels The monitor became only used about 7 hours so far The stand is not adjustable so you may need something to elevate the monitor depending on your configuration. that this really bothers you. - Color calibration wasn't great, but manual adjustment helped (I didn't have any calibration equipment available). - The included speakers are quite weak, but that's to be expected. Overall: This is a very good budget monitor, especially as an upgrade for those still using (non-professional) CRTs or wanting this resolution. This won't overwhelm those who use LCDs regularly or need them for serious photography work, but those folks probably aren't considering it anyway. Most of the pros and cons are typical for monitors in this class. For the price, this could be a nice upgrade, but picky users might want to look a little more upscale.
