Wii sound works great
I bought a used Wii after selling mine years ago, I needed a way to connect to an HDMI TV. After reading the reviews of the Wii to HDMI converter (the little one that plugs straight into the back of the Wii) I was concerned about the sound as many reviews said there were audio issues. I chose this converter instead because it actually uses the existing Wii RCA audio cables. I had no problems, works great, sound is perfect. You have to use an old iPhone USB adapter you have laying around to power the converter, it's not clear in the instructions.
