To be honest, I was very skeptical, so I tried it myself first. The pressure is so light you almost don't feel it (setting 1). I love that it beeps and basically alerts you. I tried so many things, nothing worked so this was my only hope. I put it down and the fake cat went straight for it. He was fascinated by it. I thought, "OK, she obviously doesn't mind, and Maya is going to go there and pee anyway." When Maya came to inspect him, she stepped on him and jumped. She came back to sniff it, stepped on it again, and walked away (didn't jump or run away). It all ended here. No more peeing in this area. I only used the lowest settings and that was for the cats! I had no reason to try higher settings, so I can't speak for them.
