Review on Kokuyo Mini Pencil Capatto Tricolor by Morgan Gilmore

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Sturdy, cute, very underrated!

This case is greatly underestimated. In the US, I've hardly heard anyone talk about it. Even JetPens sells this bag, but their marketing team barely mentions its existence. After my old pencil case broke, I thought it would be a good gift to start my sophomore year. This bag reminds me of a smaller version of a gym bag. It's insanely adorable and I love the different designs. I wonder why matte black is so much more expensive considering the tri-color (this one) is the closest thing to what is normally sold in Japan (around 1,300 yen). One of the straps has a detachable button that allows you to clip the bag onto the strap of a larger bag if you wish. The durability is much better than originally expected. The opening (next to the zipper) has a wire frame that holds the structure of the bag. Adds to its durability and I really wish more pencil cases had this type of structural reinforcement. The fabric is made of polyester, which is quite easy to clean from stains and can even be damaged by needles. The main pocket holds about 25 pens, which is average and doesn't distort the fabric of the pocket too much. The inner lining is convenient in case the handles leak, they don't directly dirty the white part. The zipper is standard and I had no problems with it sticking. In addition, there is a bottom pocket that opens horizontally to accommodate larger/flatter items such as scissors and mailboxes. It can hold more than it looks if you place your items properly. In addition to scissors, stickers and correction tape, I was able to store a glue stick and 2 bulky erasers in the bottom compartment. Overall a solid 5/5. I hope it can gain at least a little more popularity because it really is. I think that it could work not only as a pencil case, for example a travel bag or something you could put phone accessories (headphones and power adapters for example) in.
