The shine isn't matte at all and looks like chrome if you're wondering how shiny it is. When I handle it, sometimes the finger oil prevents it from lying flat, which is a bummer. This happens no more often than with standard adhesive tape. I have found that with gel nails I need an extra coat or two top coats or the tape will somehow break through. I like it. I needed to take my gel nails up a notch with minimal effort. Highly recommended.
