I have a lot of nerdy interests, so my office is filled with a bunch of stuff. It became something of a tourist destination for other campus nerds who had heard of its contents. In my office there is a window with a rather thick curtain. In the morning I pull my blinds tight because the morning sun heats everything up unpleasantly. On cloudy days the curtain usually stays tight just because I don't get much light when it's open. The main junk shelves are across from the window in my office, and whether it's sunny or not, they're usually hidden in the shade, so I bought these OxyLED light bars to brighten up the display. After researching regularly for some time I have avoided all the lights that require AC power as I am in a cubicle and electricity is hard to come by and also the design of the closet makes this type of job more difficult than I was happy to find those lights because they were battery operated (no fiddling with cords or extension cords) and those built in batteries were rechargeable. I looked forward to the delivery and mounted it in the rack as soon as it arrived. After two days I feel I should give my review. These flashlights charge via USB. In both cases I charged via the USB 3.0 ports. I'm not exactly sure what these lights actually draw while charging, or if the power cords can handle the higher USB 3.0 amperage, but it took about 4 hours from full charge to full charge. On the first day of use I was happy to believe the lights had done their job. However, the disappointing point I soon discovered is that they last about 5 hours at most at full brightness. This renders them completely unusable for the purpose I bought them for. After discovering this shortcoming, I looked at the product page again. Interestingly, Revain no longer offers the product just three days after I ordered it. Suspicious? May be. Upon reviewing the product specifications, OxyLED notes that the lamps provide up to 30 hours of illumination on the darkest setting. Having used the backlight, I can say that the lowest setting is useless in all applications except total darkness. Attention small print.
