I bought this kit to set up studio lighting for video conferencing and webcasting. I had high hopes for this kit, but unfortunately the poor design of the lightbar body and the fit of the tripod on the lightbox became an obstacle. Positive:* The light output is bright enough for the intended purpose* The device is solid and well made. Less good: Fixing the device to the U-bolt of the carrier makes it impossible for the light to tilt down more than 5 degrees with the doors open or 0 degrees with the softbox attached. Cannot be used as the main light source. A tripod isn't designed for use with this light, so the thumbscrew doesn't properly secure the light source to the tripod - it wobbles and can't be forced to stay parallel to the ground. Temperature control isn't smooth. The setting of the yellow LEDs increases or decreases in increments as the knob is turned. I would guess there are 15 levels of brightness from off to full. Not a critical factor unless you need precise color temperature control. The softbox is not securely attached to the lighting unit and is sagging. The cable from the power adapter to the device is not long enough, so the device dangles in the middle. Air when mounted on a fully extended tripod. Does anyone else find it unusual that all reviews except mine are very general and 5 stars? I am unlikely to buy from this seller again. Conclusion: not recommended, save money and time and look elsewhere.
