Good enough for sketchbooks, but not high quality.
Regular pastel pencils are good for my purposes, working in my sketchbooks, drawing in color or planning pictures. However, if I'm doing serious pastel work, I wouldn't use them. The pigment loading is not as high as in other higher quality pastels. I knew that when I ordered them. They're not as chalky as the others either, but I was looking for something between colored pencil (I'm not a big fan of colored pencils) and tinted charcoal. You are basically what I was looking for. If you need pastel pencils for your sketchbook, these are great. If you're looking for higher quality pastel pencils, look elsewhere.
