Adjustable hip belts don't work!

Adjustable waist straps are a joke. they don't last. I'm very disappointed because these pants cost almost $30! Once you tighten them, they loosen. My son is 7 years old, medium height and these pants are too big for him. The quality of the fabric seems ok.
