In retrospect, good news to take away. While salt and pepper can be found almost anywhere and don't need to be carried around, I keep them in my travel bag. I usually pre-season food for convenience, but it's a middle-class knick-knack =) The way it's set up, it's going to take quite a while. It's easy to see how much you have. This is a fairly thick acrylic body and spring loaded rod that grinds pepper and salt. Such a simple mechanism that gives it such a small form factor and such ease of use. You simply press the top plunger/button to grind it right over your food with one hand. Very convenient. I really like this product even though I've used it so seldom.
