Review on High-Efficiency 8-Bay AA/AAA Battery Charger for Rechargeable Ni-MH/Ni-CD AA Batteries - Quick Charge, Independent Slot Design by Shane Mack

Charges AA and AAA NiMH batteries - poor display

I sometimes use rechargeable NiMH (nickel metal hydride) batteries in devices that use alkaline batteries. NiMH batteries don't power my devices as long as alkaline batteries, but you can use NiMH batteries over and over again. The reason costs a few dollars more than the other model. Both come with four AAA batteries and four AA batteries, allowing you to charge up to 8 batteries in the charger. The charger can work with both sizes and the display shows when each battery is being charged and when the battery is fully charged. This device has an LCD screen above the batteries. This screen shows the charge status in typical black on a greyish background. It has no backlight. Go to the charger and look at the icons to determine the charge level. It's more cumbersome than chargers with lights letting you know how much it's charging - red means the battery is low or charging; Green means it is fully charged. You can see it from many meters away and understand what it means. Since this particular charger doesn't use status LEDs, I'm deducting a star from the rating. It works out. It can charge batteries of both sizes. It can be operated with empty batteries as well as with fully or almost fully charged batteries. I personally find the cheaper model with LCD displays better and easier to use. to check the battery status.
