- This is a great toy for all ages - switches and dials light up brightly and the red button makes a sound. Another switch causes the device to vibrate, and a connected cable causes one of the lights to flash red and blue. This is really a great toy to develop active imagination. Two AAA batteries are screwed tightly under the plate, so little hands can't reach the batteries. A small Phillips screwdriver is all an adult needs to change the batteries. We gave it to my 2.5 year old niece and her eyes lit up and she immediately started playing with the toy. It was so easy for her to understand and use. The wood was smooth and varnished. It is convenient and safe to use. The only thing I would wish for is a hidden master switch to turn off the device when not playing with it.
