I ordered a K&H Outdoor Cathouse last year and it was (literally) a lifesaver for my wildcat Honey. The problem is that Honey (obviously since he's a feral) is a street cat, so he gets very dirty and wears all sorts of bird feathers (I'm not asking!) dirt to bask in the sun or sit under the bushes. I end up washing his electric blanket quite often, and since it's getting colder and he spends whole days in his heated house, he can't use it until I put it in the washer and dryer. . I was so happy to find this cover because it is exactly the same as the one that came with the stand so it fits perfectly. Last winter I left the patio door open and pretended to forget to shut it so he could come in and warm himself up while the blankets were washed for him. As long as I didn't get too close, he seemed fine with it, but for an hour or so I let the chilly air into my toasty warm house. (Of course, as soon as I get to the door, he runs out, defeating the purpose of giving him any protection in the first place.) Also, since the door was open, I had to rush to wash them dry and back outside, but with a hinged lid (this one!) I don't have to do that, and I can leave it in the washer or dryer until I get around to it. In any case, as I said, this is the same cover that comes with the K&H Outdoor Cathouse, so it suits my needs (and Honey's) perfectly. While he's munching his delicious cat food, I just take off my dirty one and put on a new one, and he doesn't come out of his cozy warmth any longer than it takes him to enjoy his food (and I don't have to worry). about him while I wash and dry his blanket).
