Love Simple Toys for Baby and Toddler Toys

I have a grandson who turned 2 earlier this month and really doesn't like kids toys. He has an older sister and likes to play with her stuff, but that's inappropriate for his age, so I wanted to find something that would grab and hold his attention. I spent hours one night looking through toys and couldn't find anything that I didn't think would tire after a day. There are so many useless toys for kids that just don't last. I like solid wood toys when I can find them. I really like Doug and Melissa's products and so do my daughter and son for their children. I've been watching my grandson for a week and decided my wild little fella needed something that made noise and could be rough with. I thought of the benches they had when my son was little and thought they were perfect for him. So I researched and found many different brands and price ranges. What struck me about Melissa & Doug Deluxe Pounding Bench was that not only were they a brand I liked and trusted for well built toys, but they also perfected the push bench! The only thing that bothered me was the loss of detail. Those little pins you hammer in come out the other end and inevitably get lost over time. For this reason, I don't like buying toys that have a lot of parts, but Melissa and Doug's bench was built so that the pins can't be knocked out. Instead, the pins on the left were connected to the pins on the right. So if you hit a pin and it goes down, the other side goes up. Genius! The price was great and it arrived in just 2 days. My grandson loves this! I keep him at home so the noisy toys won't be forced on his parents and he can take all his grievances to our house. Two weeks after receiving it, the end piece holding one of the pages came out of the grooves and lay on the floor. He's only 2 so I couldn't figure out how to get him out but here it is. It took a lot of work to get back and my husband will be using wood glue to strengthen it. It was a disappointing quality that I trust Melissa and Doug's products, but he uses them again every day and never gets bored. That's money well spent. A simple wooden toy that will keep you entertained day after day.
