I have HUGE calves - genetically AND from weight gain so I looked everywhere for the right socks. Jobst brand "fit" but too tight to be comfortable with my arthritis (old arms) and previous rotator cuff injury; Getting dressed is a 30 minute exercise in itself, but they WERE the only socks I found to work around my huge calves. I've tried this MOJO brand and am buying a few now in case I can't find them when winter comes. They fit! They are easy enough to put on! I actually have knuckles at the end of the day! I first tried the 6X and it was great, but I was surprised that they were "easier than expected" to put on; I thought maybe I should try a size down just to be sure. THEN - I ordered the 5X which was a bit tighter for me (but obviously I didn't weigh them down too much - just wanted to make sure they fit). Haven't started working out in them yet so I'm very curious as to whether they will stay upright or not (which is why I bought a 5x size to try both for a walk) but will post again when I find out . In terms of fit, before all of this my calves were about 28 inches (yes – YES) and could use BOTH 5x and 6x, although 5x is a bit tighter. I apply it first thing in the morning before the swelling sets in and after I've slept with my legs up (now I'm trying to do what I need to do). I am so thankful for these socks that finally fit. Those who walk around in pretty much everything have no idea how hard it is to find super-large socks. WHAT I LEARNED: We have cats and a dog, so I was also happy to see that while I wear animal hair socks (unavoidable if we watch TV together at night), the socks wash well and the tight fabric doesn't "pinch" . " Animal hair. It is also removed with a lint brush. I was a little worried about the size of the foot: although I have large feet for a woman (width 12), they were still never large enough to fill the "giant" area of the sock's foot, which is max. Suggestion for the size of the compression stockings. I didn't really care as I wanted them to fit my calves but wanted you to know there was excess fabric in the foot area but not too much but it wasn't difficult to deal with. like other brands. This MOJO fabric has more stretch and lays flatter than some others I've tried, which helps with that excess material. For me, that's not a problem with this brand. I also read ONE testimonial from a woman who was tall and flew a lot commercially but didn't have big calves - she needed socks because she was on planes so much; She recommended the open toe version as she was tall and couldn't find a brand that was LONG enough. I'm tall too (5-11) so I knew what she meant - many of the models I tried were too short to "reach" that area behind the knee, especially when I'm already at her full size stretched ; These MOJO socks are great for me BOTH open toe and closed toe (neither was too short). And - sorry for short folks - but shorter folks might have too much fabric at the knees or ankles, but I was glad they were long enough. I like to take too much stuff every day, not too little. When trying the open toe style I was pleased to find that the compression helps with excess tissue in the foot area - the sock can be worn as long or as long as possible. in short, you need it on the leg itself, which was an unexpected advantage. I used to worry that the exposed toe area was too tight where your foot protrudes from the sock - I already have enough foot problems and swelling that I don't want to cause another problem on my feet. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the MOJO sock does NOT affect the area of the foot - very comfortable (and much cooler) to wear the open model on your feet. I walk around the house barefoot all the time, so wearing socks all the time, especially compression style, is a big adjustment for me - they actually make me warmer (as in TOO HOT) than usual, so wear open socks. A finger helps a little. The sock was "hard" around my foot but never too tight - and I wear it all day! For those who wear open toe sandals, this is also a nice bonus. I think I could wear sandals and capris with it and not feel too conscientious. I was worried that the compression stocking would pinch the open toe a lot, or turn the toes purple, or put something even more "uncomfortable" on the feet, but that's ok. They are very spacious in the foot area. Good luck my big-legged and/or wide-legged friends! I hope they work for you too!
