Advantages:1. small, doesn't run up against poles or vegetation much, and I can put it in my pocket when I'm indoors2. Works great, easy to fold and put away 3. cheap, my full size sun visor with multiple hikers was over $60. Cons: 1. Not windproof like graduated sunglasses, sudden gusts of wind can flip and ruin them. If you live in the sunbelt and are a white person who has friends who have died from melanoma, an umbrella (UV screen) is a must. Normal nylon or polyester umbrellas are basically useless as they hardly block UV rays compared to cotton or UV treated umbrellas like this one. You don't feel much cooler because the air around you is still hot, but you don't get the cancer-causing UV rays you get from direct sunlight. Definitely recommend this or something at a comparable price.
