Review on LG 24UD58 B: 24 Inch Monitor with FreeSync, HDMI, and 60Hz Refresh Rate - Best Buy by Matthew Ketkaew

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good resolution for Mac Retina, but no longer offers advertised software.

Many other 4K monitors require too much fiddling to get close to Mac OS's Retina resolution. This monitor offers Mac-like resolution by default. But there are some limitations that you should be aware of. First, if you work a lot of nights like me, be aware that the monitor's "brightness" control is very tight. Worse, even when it's set to 0 it remains very bright - too bright for a dark room in my opinion. In addition, the advertised split-screen software (download from the LG website) is no longer offered. This monitor is only a few years old, but LG has already removed the key option that made many of us (Google complaints) buy a monitor - the ability to set up separate workspaces on a single monitor. minor complaints, but more and more of us are suspicious of companies that require us to reveal our identities and sign (anti-)confidentiality agreements ONLY to contact the company. Go to the LG website, enter the model number of this monitor and search for software. You will get a "not found" error message. Then try to contact LG support. First, you MUST sign a non-disclosure agreement that allows LG to record personally identifiable information, including your IP address and your device's unique identifier. And LG reserves the right to do with the data as it sees fit. We have already bought their product, but we also need to give them our personal data indefinitely? This goes too far. But how else can you get the company to service your car (warranty)? If it weren't one of the few reasonably affordable monitors that does a good job out of the box at Mac Retina resolution, I'd return it. .
