Review on πŸ”’ High-Quality Studded Belt: Top Grain Leather with Nickel Free Grommets, Studs, & Buckle by Mark Grady

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not as advertised. on Accessories

Edit: It's been less than 2 years since I bought it and it's already falling apart. The "skin" is splitting and peeling due to the grommets I attach it to to the point where it's about to fail. I also noticed that they changed the description in the listing to say it's "premium leather" instead of the "vegan" material they previously listed. Deducting 2 stars for lack of durability and trying to deduct a 3rd because the description has been changed to make others believe it is real leather. My original rating is below. Well, despite the list name, this belt is not leather. I knew this from the description when I bought it and rarely bought it, but it was the only belt I could find that even remotely matched the style of the leather belt I was replacing. The fact that they call it "leather" in the title REALLY makes me deduct a star, but this review is for the belt, not the listing. and as far as I can tell after a few months of use it deserves 5 stars. To be clear, I'm not vegan and I have absolutely no problem wearing leather. I actually prefer leather over all the alternatives I've found, it's just that they're never as durable as the real thing. Except maybe this. The belt it replaces gave me a lot of wear and tear for 20 years before I finally gave up and removed it and I think this belt can last at least that long. the material itself is tough, with almost as much flexibility as real leather, and I can't find any weak points, so it depends on how the material holds up to wear and tear (and you'd better believe I'll be back and the Stars will blow if this belt doesn't last as long as the previous one). Material aside, the eyelets are perfectly positioned so it fits perfectly every time I wear it. I don't really care about nickel free stuff so I don't have any comment on that then I wouldn't know they aren't nickel if they didn't tell me. So to sum up I might come back and collect the stars in 2/5/10 years if it doesn't last, but at this point I really think it might outlive the genuine leather belt I loved so much. I'm not going to give up leather, but if I find out something is made out of this material, I'll give it the same attention.
