The texture is soft rubber, comfortable to hold in hand. The problem, however, is that it fits very loosely, no doubt due to the cutouts for the extra Elite controller buttons. I got rid of it by covering the holes with tape to keep it from moving. It works for the most part and isn't noticeable from the top if you glue it properly. But there's no point in paying for a product with better grip and still doing something else to improve grip. Another issue is that the rubber around the buttons next to the start button and whatever that other little button is called is pretty thick. Because of this, checking the score in cod was inconvenient for a while because I didn't feel the button. The elastic band reaches up to the button height. It's a small grip, ultimately I just wish it wasn't so loose that it looks like you need some kind of glue.
