Former teacher - excellent books!

Susan Peterson was my adjunct professor of ceramics when I was a student at Hunter College in New York many years ago. My little clay brick in books! We learned clay/glaze chemistry and more. For those who want one of the best books on clay, here it is. Her husband was also a ceramics engineer (if I remember correctly) so her information and experience was paramount. She also knew a lot about historical ceramics. For those doing work that required a thorough understanding of the properties of clay, she was a unique and very informative professor (I've been doing clay for over 40 years, more if you count my clay cakes). as a child) (and now I know what mud is, one thing - if they have the knowledge, they can make their own clay, know how to collect it along the rivers, etc.). We learned that from Susan (besides recording techniques, many ideas that she added back to the base from her own knowledge). You will learn what "clay" is, how it is created in nature and what you can do with it. She knows historical backgrounds from all over the world as well as modern technologies, many of which she developed herself and founded ceramics departments at many universities. She could look at the end result of her research (glaze or clay mass) and knew exactly what it took to get the end result she wanted! (what chemicals) It meant that you can realize an idea! Highly recommended.
