Wow what a lightweight product!

This is a great light source to add extra light to your videos/photos. We use one of them for YouTube videos about breweries, sometimes with different lighting (channel name: Brew Review). The variable color temperature helps us to balance out strange lighting scenarios and remove shadows from our faces. The light is BRIGHT, bright enough to eliminate shadows in broad daylight outside at full output, but don't expect it to outshine the sun in any way. It's typically used on our main camera, a hot shoe mounted right on our face. We've recently started using a different hair light and are pleased with the results combined with multiple reflectors around the field of view. The color accuracy of these lights is very good, I noticed that they can balance each other out pretty well in almost any lighting situation thanks to their variable color properties. The included diffuser plate that slides into the light provides a softer spread of light and affects the overall potential output, but usually not to the point where it's negative, maybe around 5% less output. There is also a red tinted filter, but I don't see any use in it for our purposes. We paired it with several NP-F750 batteries (FYI, batteries and AC adapter are not included. Both are sold separately). ) and while it's a bit heavier than when used with smaller batteries, you do NOT have to worry about shooting all day and wasting power, we never completely drained it while shooting. I might buy some smaller batteries to keep the weight down as we usually carry a lot of things with us on site. it!) and works well to stabilize the light on flat surfaces as long as your battery isn't putting too much weight on the back of the flashlight. (Read, 750-size batteries are on the verge of being too big. No bending forward/backward with these types as the light will simply yield to gravity at that point.) The included remote control is also a lifesaver if you have it The shot is beautifully framed and you are not close to the camera or the light to control it from behind. I've also used them at weddings for backlighting and general lighting and while they work well I still prefer off-camera flashes for this purpose at the moment. a little to take the doors off and the mounting tabs don't come loose at all, leaving you with those little black tabs on the sides of the mount that can snag on fabric or material if you put it in a bag or whatever during transportation. You could just use a regular allen wrench or even a LocTite Phillips head screw to make our lives easier. Also of note is that we painted the interior parts of the barn doors matte black to help the light get in and it actually worked well and is a recommended modification. All in all a great light for the price! Highly recommended for portability and video purposes.

Works but later designs are easier to handle.
