Mixed feelings on mobility aids and everyday life

I bought this raised toilet to help me with my hip surgery when they don't want you bending more than 90 degrees during recovery. I'm 5ft 5in, a typical toilet height, so I couldn't do without one of these. I spent a lot of time reading so many reviews about too many options and chose this one but it has drawbacks. Unfortunately, I think everyone has options. Here are my pros and cons: Pros: 1. It's sturdy and wide enough if you're just a little fat. 2. Height adjustment. If you only need 2" instead of 5" height, this seat is possible with this seat. 3. It has no sharp edges. 4. Assembly and disassembly is intuitive and requires no tools. However, instructions are included. 5. Fits both round, 6. The seat can be reclined one step by shortening the front legs so that when you sit, your knees remain below your hips, as they should after hip replacement surgery. The chair still feels stable.7 .It's easy to move around when sharing a toilet with someone who doesn't need it. 8. It's not made in China! It's from Taiwan to keep and not advertise to my neighbors what I bought while it was on my porch. Cons: 1. The straight bar in the front makes it difficult to wash yourself unless you are tall and don't have branches for legs. I can't do it at my height without getting up and I find that rather so impractical. This would be a real challenge for those who need help getting up or moving around. What happened to the curved front panel in previous photos of this chair? This rod goes directly through the front open area of the bucket/splashguard, not in front of it.2. The sides of the fender are steeply angled towards the opening in the floor rather than vertically. A surge is imminent and poses a risk of women becoming infected. If you have diarrhea? Hooray! 3. An extension at the front of the seat, while useful, isn't really necessary (regular seats don't extend) and makes cleaning access narrower than it should be. soft itself: You can squeeze the seat with your hands, so it's soft, but luckily it's a very, very firm cushion that doesn't compress too much. If you have sore buttocks that you wanted to get rid of while sitting in this seat, it's not what you're hoping for, but it's better than hardwood or plastic. Finally, I would like to point out that upon receipt of this item I received a "VIP Invite" to receive free products/free shipping from the seller for writing unbiased reviews of other products. Thanks but no. I don't need to burden myself with stuff I don't need and I think Revain already has far too many reviews written by people getting free stuff from sellers. How can they be impartial or understand the ins and outs of things they wouldn't otherwise buy?

Cons
  • Hard to tell
