This is a very good stool. The wood has a beautiful surface. It's nice to look at, not just another ugly plastic thing in the house. I use this for my toddler to help him get into his new bed and then in front of the toilet and sink for potty training. It would be a good choice for dogs to climb on the couch too! I'm 210 pounds, I've stood on it and it seems very sturdy. I bought self-adhesive rubber pads for the lower legs, the legs are not rubber and can slip, but that's a quick fix and not a deal breaker for me.
