Review on GABELS Bay Rum After Shave Lotion - 16oz (1 Pint) by Sherri Rivera

A few years ago I had a bottle of laurel rum that contained nothing but laurel oil, alcohol and maybe water. i loved things It smelled like cloves. Some reviewers here have taken issue with this product, claiming that it is clove oil and not bottled laurel oil. Well, if the manufacturer isn't lying, then that's laurel oil. It just so happens that bay oil smells like cloves. I bought some laurel oil with the idea of making my own laurel rum. But I haven't done it yet. Guess what? Laurel oil smells like cloves. Maybe it's because laurel oil comes from a fragrant tree. And to my nose, allspice has a bit of clove smell. For me, cloves in my bay rum are no problem because I love the scent of cloves. It's warm and flavorful and reminds me of Christmas. However, there is no clove oil in Gabels - only bay oil, alcohol, water, flavoring and FD&C Yellow #5. I think it might be the scent of cloves. But since bay oil already smells like cloves, it will only accentuate what's already there. If you don't like cloves, then this isn't for you. Find a bay rum that has less bay oil and more of what you like. But if you like the warm and spicy taste of cloves then this is your brown rum. I love it and for the price you can't go wrong. I think this is a great product for the price.
