We live in a small house with little storage space. My 7 year old has built up a whole LEGO collection over the past year. It was a challenge to keep them in a part of the living room where she didn't have to keep picking them up so we could walk around and through them and find the pieces she needed for her projects. I went through a 3 level storage system for boxes, different size plastic crates, trays, whatever. To be honest, finding a way to keep everything to herself, let her play with her LEGO whenever she wanted, and also an easy cleaning solution got out of hand. This is literally the best thing I've bought in YEARS! The surrounding raised rim keeps her pieces from scattering while she digs and searches for something. The handles for lifting the mat are sturdy and I love that it zips up once everything is packed inside. Believe it or not, this basket is almost full of the LEGO mat that's in it, so we'll have to buy another one after Christmas. I honestly don't mind it either as the exterior color and fabric make it look more like a nice decorative storage box than a cheap plastic storage box.
