Have been using them for school lunches for the past 5 years. They are durable. I put the main body in the dishwasher but hand wash the lids because there are so many places to store food. You have to push back one side of the seal and inflate the food. But when food is stuck in the thermos, it is difficult for an adult to put his hand in to clean it. After being filled with boiling water (which is discarded) before food is put in, the thermos stays hot until dinnertime. But even a small hand is not so easy to reach with dishes. Eventually, if I had to remodel, I'd go for a bowl-shaped thermos and buy something that's easier to clean.
