This will likely work for many. My daughter has a large waist and usually wears 12/14 pants. I ordered them in the hope that they would work to get out of school. Unfortunately, there weren't enough buttons at the waist, even with the adjustable Velcro straps undone. I will save them for my other child to grow up. In general I would say that they are small. They are of good thickness and padding and look like they will keep kids warm in winter. The material has a thick feel and we made it to withstand the effects of rough play.
