Here's how it should work: Once opened, push the sides with ONE hand, which opens the coin hole and allows the coins to slide into the opened lid. It doesn't work that way, you have to open the slot with your other hand so that the coins come out and put them back in the part without a lid. Disappointing. The one I had years ago only takes one hand to open and restore the change.
