This cooling pad is very quiet and perfectly cools my laptop while I work on it on my lap. I don't play with it so I don't know if it will affect its effectiveness. I have a 15.9" laptop and mostly work on it at night and the light doesn't bother me at all. I'm glad I didn't go with the more expensive one due to some negative reviews as this one works great and is great value for money -Relationship.
