Okay, I've been diagnosed with De Quervain's synovitis from an injury and have extensor hallucis brevis and extensor hallucis longus pain. These are the tendons of the thumb muscles that help the thumb extend. My pain scale goes from 3/10 to 8/10 every morning. Sometimes when I'm doing certain things like cooking, opening the door, etc. my big toe hurts sooooo much! I've already been to the doctor and got an injection, but after a few weeks it doesn't help anymore. This thumb splint keeps my thumb/wrist in a stable position while I sleep to keep my thumb from "moving" while I sleep. Doctors don't know exactly how people get Kerwen's tenosynovitis. But it can be the result of: a direct hit to the thumb, gaming, hobbies like gardening or rackets, inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, overuse, repetitive tasks at work. sleep in a strange position. And then later lift heavy things. I've been using this arm brace for over a month now and it seems to be helping me get my pain scale down from an 8/10 to a 2 or 3/10. De Quervain's disease is like a chronic pain, I've had this pain for over 7 months now. It doesn't hurt that much during the day, but it depends on what I'm doing. Good luck to me y'all.! I will continue to use this splint and see how it can help me long term as I don't want to have surgery.
