I used to be misled by YouTube beauty gurus but I really love this highlighter. I don't know my MAC shade (student issues), but I have 108 caramel beige in Loreal Pro Matte Foundation, w6 in Loreal True Match and I'm using Black Radiance's Light to Medium True Complexion Contour Palette. The highlighter is thin enough for a day at the office but can be added for more pigmentation. My skin tone is medium range with yellow undertones and it looks natural enough to give me a glow without being too overdone. The gloss is small and not big like some other highlighters I've tried. It's not super gold, it's more of a neutral brownish champagne as it doesn't contain as much yellow. But again it works fine. I also have textured skin from hormonal acne and with a light hand it applies well and doesn't pay attention to imperfections. Also, it's quite big so you get a lot of product. For those on a budget this is a must.
