This drug was recommended to me as my dog had spleen cancer. I don't usually trust alternative medicines, but our vet has approved the use of Yunnan baiyao and turkey tail (positive information about Yunnan baiyao and "no harm, no foul" regarding turkey tail). Two different vets had never heard of Essiac and my internet searches turned up only dubious anecdotal evidence, but I decided against my better judgment to try it, hoping it would buy time for our dog. Unfortunately, after three days of using this substance, he developed severe diarrhea, which is a known side effect of at least some of the ingredients in this product. This was particularly difficult as my dog had great difficulty getting up and moving which made the diarrhea worse. Consult your veterinarian and look at reviews that focus on evidence-based research, not alternative medicine advocates chasing after emotionally distressed people.
