Review on Eucerin Skin Calming Fluid Ounce by Shannon Hanson

Amazing shower gel for dry/sensitive skin if you don't mind the smell of castor oil

Eucerin Skin Calming is a great shower/bath oil for people with very sensitive and/or dry skin. dry sensitive skin on my body (sometimes with patchy dermatitis) but still prone to body acne and follicular keratosis on my chest, back and arms. Skin Calming's Soothing Shower Gel helps keep my skin hydrated, but amazingly, the oils don't clog pores. Unlike most oil-based shower gels, it actually forms a nice lather, although not as thick as regular shower gel. I definitely recommend using a washcloth or sponge for more lather. It rinses off easily, leaving skin conditioned but free of greasy residue/film. Personally, I still wear body lotion, but this body gel leaves my skin feeling soft and nourished. It also cleanses the skin well (compared to other shower oils), but it's not good enough for heavy soiling or a waterproof SPF. The shower gel is very thin, slightly less viscous than castor oil. I usually pour it onto a sponge or washcloth, it slips through my fingers easily. Because of the consistency, I end up using quite a bit of shower gel, so this is a product I use fairly quickly; This is an amazing product but expensive for both the bottle and the use. Although this is a fragrance-free shower gel, it smells like castor oil. The smell doesn't stay after the shower, but I can feel it when washing; People who absolutely hate the smell of castor oil will not like this product. I personally don't mind, I used to put castor oil on my hair and eyebrows (for hair growth) and got used to the smell, although not the most pleasant.

Pros
  • Worth the money
