They work exactly as advertised. Clean up the walls well before using command hooks. I did but as the color is terrible here and if allowed I lost a catch after about a week. However, the other two that I installed at the same time have been working without problems for a month. Make sure you follow the instructions in the letter every time and you should be in business unless you have the cheap horrible color I have. I also suggest that if heat is an issue in your location, you choose an interior wall of your home where the sun cannot heat it up and detach it from the wall. The walls of my house can get quite warm here at over 100 degrees and the inside feels warm too. Therefore, I chose the wall that is the entrance to my house so that it does not heat up and the temperature does not affect the glue. They're also pretty heavy. I hung a 36x48 duvet with 3 clips but when one fell out the other 2 held it for another 3 weeks until I took it off. It wasn't balanced or sagging like the 3, but they held on. Seriously worth the money. No need to sew on a quilt when you think you're done!
